Swat

Dubbed as the “Switzerland of the East”, Swat’s reputation as a paradisiacal tourist destination lives up to its name. Situated in the Malakand division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it was once a major Buddhist center, as can be evidenced from the remaining ruins of that era. Swat is known for its breathtaking greenery amidst high mountains with snow-clad peaks. It is also famous for its beautiful, clear lakes.
Swat is also home to the Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai, and for two years (2007 to 2009) the valley was under the yoke of Taliban. It was after a successful military operation by the Pakistan Army in 2009 that the valley was finally liberated from the terrorists. Today, both local and foreign tourists visit the place without any fear of terrorists.

Malam Jabba Ski Resort

Malam Jabba Ski Resort, managed and owned by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, is the most well-known ski resort of Pakistan. It is located in the picturesque Kalam valley, in northern Swat district. Other noteworthy destinations in the Swat include the dense Ushu Forest, Gabral, Utror, Kandol and Mahodand Lakes. There are many more lakes in Swat which remain to be explored by tourists, such as the Izmis Lake, the Spin Khwar Lake, the Daral Lake and the Bashigram Lake.
